U.S. All-Stars 96, Capital All-Stars 78

FUTURE ACC BIG MEN HOLD STRONG U.S. Size Puts an End to Capital Win Streak

The United States All-Stars, led by Rick Rickert (Minnesota) and Anthony Richardson (Florida State) dominated the backboards on their way to an impressive 96-78 victory before 8,233 at MCI Center. Despite efforts from Capital MVP Melvin Scott (North Carolina), the local players could never make up a growing deficit. Scott demonstrated an incredible outside scoring touch with four three-pointers on the afternoon. FutureACC stars Elton Brown (Virginia) and Jamal Levy (Wake Forest) pounded for every rebound, wearing down the Capital inside punch of NC State recruits Jordan Collins of DeMatha and Levi Watkins of Montrose Christian. On the perimeter, U.S. MVP Chey Christie (Clemson) was a deadly threat scoring a game-high 20 points on 8-11 shooting. Also making a mark in the game was Boston College signee Jermaine Thomas with 19 points and four assists; Florida State power forward Adam Waleskowski who tallied 10 rebounds and five blocks in an incredible; and Ohio State point guard Brandon Fuss-Cheatham with 10 points and six assists. Kansas Jayhawk star Wayne Simien was forced to sit out to an injury.
